Miyori Family

Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture

 みよりファミリースキー場 栃木県日光市

Miyori Family was a small ski area in the northern region of Nikko City in Tochigi Prefecture. It was located just behind the un-manned Nakamiyori Onsen Station on the Aizu Kinugawa line and was reached via a narrow tunnel under the train line. Miyori Family had one rope tow lift. The lower slope area is now used as a campsite.

Further Information

  • Very little information can be found about this small local ski area and it was rarely mentioned in guidebooks throughout the years

  • The ski area was located just behind (the unmanned) Nakamiyori Onsen Station 中三依温泉駅 on the Aizu Kinugawa 会津鬼怒川線 train line

  • The small and gentle slope was serviced by one simple rope tow ('pony') lift

  • The base mechanism of the lift is still in place, but it has been closed since before 2010

  • The old sign (showing the name of the ski area) that used to be at the top of the slope and visible from the train station has been removed

  • The ski area is still shown on a very old signage outside the station

  • There is now a camp area at the base of the old ski slope

  • It is called Miyori Furusato Taiken-mura Camp Site みよりふるさと体験村キャンプ場

  • Young trees have also been planted on the slope

  • On a visit in May 2024, quite a few people were enjoying some weekend camping at the location, and it seemed appropriate to only view from outside the camp area
