& Snowboard Park

Yamanouchi Town, Nagano Prefecture

かんばやしスキー&スノーボードパーク 長野県山ノ内町

Kanbayashi Ski & Snowboard Park was a ski area located in Yamanouchi Town in the northern region of Nagano Prefecture. This area is known as being the birthplace of skiing in Shiga Kogen after a German couple visited in 1913 and introduced locals to skiing. The ski area opened in 1921 as just Kanbayashi. It went on to feature a ski jump and changed names to Kanbayashi Onsen and then Kanbayashi Ski & Snowboard Park before hosting the half-pipe event of the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. The world famous onsen-loving 'snow monkeys' of the Jigokudani Monkey Park are close-by.
