Ontake Ropeway was a ski area located on the eastern slopes of Mt Ontake in Kiso Town, Nagano Prefecture. The name implies a 'Ropeway' lift (aerial tramway), rather than a 'Gondola' lift (cabins suspended from a continuously circulating cable). The Ontake Ropeway ski area was actually a 2,333m long Gondola-style lift along with three pair lifts. The Gondola lift continues to operate during the summer months.
