Iiyama Hokuryu Onsen Family was a ski area located in Iiyama City in the north eastern region of Nagano Prefecture. It was just a few kilometres from the famous Nozawa Onsen resort. Until the last few seasons, it was almost like two separate ski hills with a Number 1 area and Number 2 area, both positioned below Hokuryu Lake. On the image below the main Number 1 area is to the left and the Number 2 area to the right. Iiyama Hokuryu Onsen Family eventually closed in 2018.

Further Information

  • Iiyama Hokuryu Onsen Family was originally made up of the Number 1 Gelande and Number 2 Gelande sections
    　
  • The smaller Number 2 Gelande area was effectively separate from the main Number 1 Gelande area
    　
  • It was home to a single lift and one course
    　
  • The Bunka Hokuryukan  文化北竜館  facility is located at the top of the Number 2 area
    　
  • The Number 2 Gelande section of the ski area closed a few years before the ski hill completely closed in 2018
    　
  • The two areas were (just about) course connected, though getting from one to the other was not particularly convenient
    　
  • The mini rope tow was in the lower area of the Number 1 Gelande
