Ca et la Ski Resort Oze - also seen written as Caela or Saera - was a ski area located close to the central area of Katashina Village in the northern region of Gunma Prefecture. It had two base areas that were connected mid-mountain. The main South Side base featured a resort hotel and golf course in summer. The North Side base featured a smaller car park and restaurant. There were initial plans to expand the resort beyond those two areas. However, a complex ownership and operation history instead resulted in a down-scaling of the operation in the years before closing in 2013.

Further Information

  • The ski area had two main areas - the South Wing and the North Wing
    　
  • The South Wing was the main base area with a hotel and large car parks
    　
  • Some artificial snow making machines were employed to help natural snowfall
    　
  • There were initial plans to expand the area
    　
  • The plans were for an additional course and lift beyond the top quad lift, as well as courses connecting the upper area with the North Wing base
    　
  • However, those plans never happened
    　
  • The lower quad lift of the North Wing was closed from the 2008-2009 season
    　
  • The pair lift in the North Wing was closed from the 2010-2011 season, thereby closing the North Wing
    　
  • The pair lift re-opened for the 2011-2012 season
    　
  • For the 2012-2013 season, only the one quad lift in the South Wing operated and the base Milky Way course was open
    　
  • 2012-2013 was the last season for the ski area, though the base hotel continued for a while longer
    　
  • The golf course close to South Wing base area closed in 2016
    　
  • Apparently, the popular Japanese singer Gackt held at least one fan club only private event at Ca et la, during which it was closed to the general public
    　
  • The hotel and buildings have now been demolished
    　
  • The base areas are now home to an increasing amount of solar panels
