Heikedaira

平家平スキー場　岐阜県郡上市

Heikedaira was a small ski area in what used to be Shirotori Town, now part of Gujo City, in Gifu Prefecture. It was about 1km from Hokuno Station. There was a 300m single lift and possibly a rope tow lift at Heikidaira. It closed in the early 1990s. The abandoned ski lift and various buildings remain, but they are increasingly covered by bushes and trees.

Further Information

  • Heikidaira Ski Area was just 1km from Hokuno Station, the last station on the Etsumi Nansen line
    　
  • The ski area was reached via a narrow bridge over Nagara River and then a winding road up to the base
    　
  • A local warned of wild bears, boar, snakes and monkeys as we made our way up to the ski area
    　
  • Details of only one ski lift at Heikidaira can be confirmed
    　
  • It was a 300m single lift and curiously called the Heikedaira Number 2 Lift 平家平第２リフト
    　
  • There may have also been a short rope tow lift
    　
  • Heikidaira appears to have closed in the early 1990s
    　
  • In 2023, abandoned facilities remain at the location
    　
  • The ski lift still stands, but it is impossible to get close due to the thick bushes and trees surrounding it
    　
  • The bottom part of the ski lift can just about be seen in the 3rd-6th last photos above
    　
  • There are also a few other old buildings in the old base area
    　
  • Trees and bushes also cover the old ski slope
