Nikko Shobugahama was a ski area located close to the northern shores of the famous Lake Chuzenji in the Oku Nikko region of Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture. The Ryuzu Falls are close by, as are the larger Kegon Falls. Nikko Shobugahama was basically one gentle slope served by a 400m triple lift. It was operated by the Prince Group and there was also a Prince Hotel located by the base.

  • The base Nikko Prince Hotel operated for a few years beyond the closing of the ski hill
    　
  • Nikko Shobugahama last operated in 2006 before being closed completely in 2008 along with the hotel
    　
  • The slope of this ski area was very gentle, almost flat
    　
  • There are now many trees growing where the course used to be and it is very picturesque
    　
  • Apparently in 2017 there was talk of plans to re-open the hotel, though no related news has since been confirmed
    　
  • The shores of Lake Chuzenjiko  中禅寺湖  are a short walk away and there is an official nature trail
    　
  • Ryuzu Falls  竜頭ノ滝  are about 500m from Nikko Shobugahama
    　
  • Kegon Falls  華厳滝  are about 5km from Nikko Shobugahama
