Futai was a ski area located in Yuzawa Town in Niigata Prefecture, opposite the entrance of the Tashiro Ropeway base station of the Kagura area. Futai opened in 1970 and was last open during the 1999 winter season. Lift pillars were damaged due to heavy snowfalls in 2005, resulting in Futai closing permanently in 2006 and the last of the lifts being removed.

Further Information

  • Futai was located just across the road from the entrance to the Tashiro Ropeway base of the Kagura resort
    　
  • A old sign at the base of Furai called it Kogen Futai  高原二居スキー場
    　
  • One of the lifts came down close to the side of Route 17 but was taken out before Futai closed
    　
  • Futai was last open during the 1999-2000 season
    　
  • Heavy snowfall during the 2005 damaged remaining lift columns
    　
  • The area was abolished in 2006 and the facilities were removed
    　
  • The old Futai Elementary School  二居小学校  was located by the base
