Sportscom Urasa Kokusai was a ski area located in the northern region of Minamiuonuma City in Niigata Prefecture, just to the north of central Urasa town. Initially, there were four lifts operating at this ski area as well as night-time operations but in the later years of operation it was scaled back to just two pair lifts. Sportscom Urasa Kokusai closed in 2007 and the lifts and other facilities have all been removed.

Further Information

  • At one time there were four ski lifts operating at Sportscom Urasa Kokusai
    　
  • There is conflicting information out there about the two southerly lifts...
    　
  • One guide book from 1996 shows the lower lift as a pair lift and the upper lift as a single lift
    　
  • However, other sources say that they were both single lifts (or both pair lifts!)
    　
  • From the late 1990s only the two pair lifts to the north were operating at Sportscom Urasa Kokusai
    　
  • One course coming down from the top was called the Triangle Course, for obvious reasons (see Google Earth image above)
    　
  • The Space Kapsel  スペース・カプセル  were kamakura igloo-like structures that could be rented during the day
    　
  • They were popular with families and groups who wanted a quirky place to take a private rest

Located less than 1km off Route 17 to the north of the central Urasa town area of Minamiuonuma City.
About 4.7km from the Yamato Smart IC exit and 6km from the Koide IC exit of the Kanetsu Expressway.
About 1.5k from Yairo Station on the Joetsu line.
Just over 1km Urasa Station on the Joetsu Shinkansen line.
