Dolphin Valley was a ski area located in Shobara City in the northern region of Hiroshima Prefecture. The western facing courses can be found on the slopes of Tateeboshiyama. It was originally known as Hiba Valley, named after a mythical creature that was said to live in the region. After another name change, it eventually became known as just Dolphin Valley in 1998. Dolphin Valley closed in 2007.

  • Dolphin Valley was originally known as Hiba Valley  ヒババレイスキー場
     
  • Apparently, that name comes from hibagon  ヒバゴン  (a mythical Japanese hominid animal that was said to live in the region)
     
  • In 1997 the name was changed name to Dolphin Valley Resort Hiba Valley  ドルフィンリゾートヒババレイ
     
  • Then in 1998 it changed name again to just Dolphin Valley  ドルフィンバレイ
     
  • Dolphin Valley was normally open for night skiing until 5am on Friday and Saturday nights
     
  • It was open for night skiing until midnight on Sunday nights and on national holidays
     
  • Most people went by car as public transport was not very convenient
     
  • Bus tours from Hiroshima were available (over 120km away)
     
  • The board park was a draw for many snowboarders
